“Several things are noticeable right away; One, the Cinénova is a true monaural design with five discrete blocks, each with its own power supply and a 15 ampere capability, Two, it's not made in a sweatshop overseas and Three, it is built to last. Under the top cover I swore I saw hair on this amplifiers chest and under the chassis, I swore I saw a set of balls.” Highlights: - Unmatched output - Exceptional sound quality - Unbelievable performance for the price

Earthquake Sound's XJ amplifiers have the tools you need to correctly compensate for room acoustics to achieve the accuracy and precision of true audiophile sound quality. The XJ-600R has unsurpassed automatic correction that counter balances the acoustical flaws of listening rooms and home theaters. The intelligent Back EMF drive circuit interacts with the subwoofer and memorizes system type and tuning frequencies. The information is then 10

stored in the XJ-600R's memory for selection at any time. Correcting Arrival-Time Problems (with a Vengeance) Most amplifiers use a simple equalization method that does not solve a room's phase problems. Earthquake's new XJ amps have true room correction that take into consideration time problems such as reflection and refraction. These new stateof-the-art amplifiers first fix arrival time and then do equalization. Others try to equalize rooms by adjusting only volume; but can they call that “room correction?” The new 99% efficient XJ Earthquake amplifiers solve phase problems as well as equalization problems.

Specifications are Subject to change without notice

Earthquake's XJ-600R amplifier is truly intelligent. To maximize sound quality, its microprocessor turns on a group-delay curve that serves as a correction reference. Frequency imbalances (peaks and dips) are smoothed out by phase correction, not equalization. C o r re c t i n g F re q u e n c y - B a l a n c e Problems (with a Vengeance) After phase correction is done, the amp does room equalization. Bass frequencies as low as 20 Hz may be cut or boosted by as much as 6 dB. These corrections increase the number of possible listening positions as well as improving the sound in each position.

The XJ-600R is a ruggedly constructed high-quality professional amplifier. Its digitalfeedback Class-J circuitry allows the XJ-600R to produce massive amounts of power with minimal heat. This patented circuitry delivers high efficiency in the range of 99% compared to the 40 to 50% efficiency of a typical Class-AB amplifier.

The PA-600 Amplifier Is Both Sensitive and Flexible The Choice of Professionals The PA-600 is a durable high-quality professional amplifier. It is designed to mount into a standard 19-inch rack, requiring only two rack spaces (3.5 inches, vertically). Two automatic variable-speed internal cooling fans use the sides, rear, and front of the amplifier not the top and bottom for air intake and exhaust, allowing you to stack multiple amplifiers, closer together in a rack-mount situation. The PA-600 produces up to 110 watts per channel into 8 ohms (stereo mode) and 380 watts into 8 ohms (bridged mono mode). Earthquake has included pro-audio features in the PA-600 such as ¼-inch and XLR input jacks for electronically balanced low- or medium-impedance operations. In addition, limiting circuitry with LED indicators constantly monitors the output level of each channel; which provides protection from clipping, thus preventing the generation of speaker-damaging square waves. A built-in protection circuit protects the amplifier from overloads, short circuits, and overheating for those who love their music consistently loud for several hours at a time.

Ultra-Sensitive Preamp-Stage Input Circuitry Some audio products do not put out enough voltage to drive an amplifier adequately. Earthquake amps have increased sensitivity so they have more output with less input. This new circuitry lets you drive the amp to full output with inputs as low as 60 millivolts. Auto Sensing Circuitry The PA-600 is so sensitive that it comes on when a signal reaches it, and it automatically falls asleep when the music stops. While in sleep mode, the amplifier consumes less energy than typical amplifiers used in professional applications. The PA-600 Can Be Switched into High-Power Mono Mode If speakers need more power, the PA-600 can meet that need. Its Stereo/Mono switch can connect the two channels together to create a single high-power channel (switching the amp to bridged-mono mode). This feature can be especially useful when the amplifier is driving one (or even two) Thor in-wall subwoofers or other subwoofers. The PA-600 employs a design that ensures high sound quality and efficiency. It has been planned down to the finest details for full accomplishment of both high-definition sound and a shining value.

Supernova MKVI: The Super Power Subwoofer Earthquake Sound Corporation is proud to introduce the next generation of their Supernova MK Series subwoofers. The new Supernova MKVI includes an all-new recessed amplifier with built-in room correction. Many companies claim that they have room-correction circuitry built into their amplifiers, but they only use level adjustment by volume. Most subwoofers with built-in amplifiers use a simple equalization method that does not correct the rooms' phase-related time problems. Earthquake's new Supernova MKVI subwoofers have true room correction that takes reflections and refractions into consideration. These state-of-the-art amplifiers fix both arrival-time and equalization problems, while others try to equalize rooms by adjusting only the volume. The new 99% efficient Supernova subs with IQ amplifiers address the actual phase problems along with the room-equalization problems. Earthquake's new Supernova subwoofer with built-in IQ amplifiers delivers the tools you need to correctly adjust a room to precision audiophile status. 18

MKIV: Earthquake's Value-Driven Alternative Our MKIV Series is a wolf in grandma's clothing. Its classic cabinet shape, drive units, and handsome laminates might lead you to expect proportionally conventional sound quality. If so, you'd be in for an aftershock. The sound of Earthquake's MKIV Series is as deep, clean and startlingly realistic as you'd expect from a more high-end subwoofer. That's because it possesses technologies, design innovations, and performance that were first heard in earlier and larger Supernova models. The physical familiarity of the MKIV only underscores just how far Earthquake has brought sound reproduction in recent years. You probably wouldn't anticipate, for example, that the speakers of the MKIV were originally designed for our award-winning mobile-audio applications; the ridged style indicates that the robust build is intended for high-power long-lasting audiophile performance. Both subwoofers boast Earthquake's patented SLAPS passive-radiator technology and high-efficiency class-AB amplifiers. For high-fidelity music or home theater, if you want subwoofers with some unexpected gut wrench, try our wolves in grandma's clothes. They are eager to satisfy your craving for bass. 22

Supernova MKIV Subs Shake the Entire Universe, Not Just the Earth

Precision Crossovers, Filters, and More The MKIV offers six switch- or knob-selectable setup adjustments for fantastic sound parameters. Its low-pass filter has settings between 40 and 160 Hz, implemented with filters precision-designed for optimum slope fading and minimum group delay. This enables smooth integration with any Earthquake speakers, as well as with speakers from other manufacturers. The Level Control in the MKIV The MKIV's level control enables you to counterbalance excessive room gain by cutting output in the 20-to-30-Hz range or, if you prefer to bring out the feeling of deep-bass energy by increasing those frequencies. Advanced Switching Amplifier Design MKIV's amplifier belongs to a high-efficiency family of patented Class-AB designs that integrate a variety of innovative techniques to reduce noise, distortion, and heat to the lowest possible levels. In particular, the switching frequency is much higher than in typical subwoofer amplifiers of this type. It can produce a true 300 watts continuously and 500 watts peak.

No job is too big or small for this little rascal. The new MiniMe P8 and FF8 can turn a puny, weak, and anemic system into the powerful, fit, and well-balanced system that you need. MiniMe P8 employs Earthquake's patented SLAPS passive-radiator technology: SLAPS allows this deceiving mini sub to dish out some 27 Hz of bone-chilling bass just like its 11-Hz big brother, the Supernova MKV-15. Not only does this unusually powerful subwoofer (with only an 8-inch speaker) do the job, it also looks beautiful while doing it. MiniMe subwoofers are handcrafted with an exquisite multi-layered high-gloss piano-black lacquer applied by professionals who take their pride in their work down to the deepest pearl essence. No other small sub on the planet can compete with this undeniably potent bass machine from Earthquake Sound.

Thunderous Bass from a Little Black Box Earthquake's Sub-80 is simply one of the best small subwoofers available. This compact high-power subwoofer is perfect for homes where people can't have 10-inch, 12-inch, or 15-inch subwoofers (such as apartments, condominiums, or town homes). The Sub-80 has the potential to fill very large rooms with musical bass and thundering sound effects. If you don't care about being evicted, you can always get a larger subwoofer, but the Sub-80 delivers tons of pure powerful bass. Front Firing, Front Ported, and Ready to Go Low The FF12 employs a deep-bumped back-motor structure that allows extended excursion with increased bass response. The patented TCT© (Turbine Cooled Transducer) technology increases efficiency and eliminates distortion. A 24-dB/octave low-pass filter delivers an accurate crossover point that prevents it from being easily localized, increasing placement flexibility. Also provided are variable crossovers, phase controls, rear-panel line inputs, and speaker-level inputs. Equally exciting is the new look it represents for Earthquake subs: a clean, contemporary style that is more consistent with the look and feel of the company's other products and visually more compatible with modern interiors. The new enclosure has a smaller footprint, but it is slightly higher to allow the extra performance of a larger enclosure. The front of the FF12 allows the user to access the volume-control knob without disturbing the phase and crossover settings. These subsidiary controls are on the back to minimize accidental tampering with the settings. The FF12 is finished in black-ash veneer.

FF12 Features 400 Watts built-in Class "A/B" amplifier • 12" premium high power subwoofer • Available Sizes: 12" only • Finishes: Black-ash laminate 1 - High level inputs and outputs 2 - Auto ON/OFF switch 3 - 0-180° phase adjust 4 - Xover frequency adjustment 5 - Low level inputs and outputs 6 - Main ON/OFF 7 - Voltage selection switch

Earthquake SuperNova MKIV-15 Stereophile Guide to Home Theater, 2003 Editors' Choice, Platinum Award.

"Earthquake has gone to considerable lengths to prove that a potent combination of speed, grace and power can be harnessed on a large, multichannel chassis." "It was hardly surprising that the Cinénova kicked away from the gate with a truly impressive display of raw power." "The Cinénova Grande met these challenges with a massive, wide-open sound stage, and it refused to constrict even the smallest of nuances anywhere in the presentation." "I know where every one is supposed to be and, thus, new right away that amplifier was reproducing the stage immaculately." Home Theater Magazine, Chris Lewis, September 2005

Earthquake Supernova MKIV-15: "SS got all shook up over the Earthquake SuperNova MKIV-15 subwoofer. Scoring high in all the critical requirements for a subwoofer (loud, deep, clean, fast), it produced bass down to below 20Hz with panache and style. Whether the program material was music or film, the SuperNova performed with aplomb, improving on the low bass in SS's room even over his resident L/R front speakers, Dunlay SCVIs, each of which has two 15-inch driver in a box large enough to have required piano mover when he bough a new home just up the street from his old one. Of course, a good powered subwoofer has the advantage of position flexibility, and its dedicated amp can be tailored to provide the best system performance. In this case, that performance was so good that SS concluded; "There might be better subwooofer on the planet, but I haven't heard them." Sterophile Guide to Home Theater, Thomas Norton, Mar/April 2003

Stereophile Guide to Home Theater, January 2003

35

Boom... Thud... Crash... “Fortunately for aficionados of the subterranean, there exist companies like Earthquake Sound, which since 1986 has dedicated itself to the art of reproducing low frequencies." "Because of the SLAPS design, the Supernova's phase response and time alignment match those of a sealed cabinet, but with the greater dynamic ability and smaller size a ported design."

Building Blocks to Success

“the component that other manufacturers fear, and men lust after.” “I'm just speechless, and the Cinénova Grande amplifier is the reason why.” "I had seen crates like this during my stint in the military-they usually contained Patriot missile warheads." "It's built to last."

"This heavy duty driver looks as if it could be used to launch mortar shells."

"Once I got the Cinénova Grande on the measuring bench, I was even more astounded-it measured exactly as Earthquake had specified."

"The Earthquake MKIV-15 did 15Hz with panache and style."

"The harder I pushed the amp, the less distortion I got!"

"There might be better subwoofer on the planet, but I haven't heard them." "I whole heartily recommend the Supernova for any system requiring the ultimate sonic boon."

"There are several very subtle details that only the best amps, preamps, and speaker can uncover. The Cinénova Grande unveiled them all." Home Theater Magazine, Clint Walker, June 2000

Discover The Truth From The Best

“...the most amazing subwoofer I've ever tested.” “…with an Xmax of 18.7mm, this woofer has three to four times the average subwoofer's excursion. There are too many positives to list about the actual transducer itself, … I'll just say it's built very well.” “…the sub integrated into my system quite well. I was delightfully surprised at the sonic presence and transparency of the Supernova, as it delivered tight, accurate bass even at very low volume levels.” “The experience was like watching this movie for the first time. I found myself gripping the couch nervously during the more 'explosive' scenes.” “This component, in its entirety, is well thought out, and built even better. To put it plainly, the Earthquake Supernova MKII is quite simply the most amazing subwoofer I've ever tested.”

Reviews “Supernova proved to be the one to beat in terms of sheer output...” “The Earthquake Supernova subwoofer delivers an impressive amount of features aimed at fulfilling the promise of ground-shaking bass suggested by its name.” “The Supernova did indeed have the ability to shake the walls of our listening room, as well as send currents of bass throbbing through our bones.” “We certainly felt its effects more than with any other sub we tested. On movies, the Supernnova proved to be the one to beat in terms of sheer output, besting even the Sunfire in this regard.” “Also, when it came to rendering vehicle crashes or gunshots, the Supernova injected fear into our nervous systems more credibly than the other subwoofers.” Digital Home Entertainment, Spring 1998

Home Theater Buyers Guide, Spring 1998.

Stereophile Guide to Home Theater, Steven Stone, September 2002

“Meaty, beaty, little and bouncy” “Just when you think you know a scene after seeing it 500 times...This subwoofer took my home theater to new depths." "The MKIV-12P is a big-lipped powerhouse of a subwoofer that pretends to be nothing other than that." "I knew the Supernova was a different animal right away." "Earthquake subs remain among the loudest and dollar-per-decibel, among top performers." "...(sorry, since most subs don't go that low, I couldn't find a test CD that even bothered to reach below 20Hz)." Home Theater Magazine, Kevin Hunt, December 2001

“...how does the Supernova perform? In a word: outstandingly.”

“For the ultimate in gut-wrenching home theater bass...”

“The Supernova MKII is compact and heavy. Only 15 by 15 by 17 inches, it'll fit into even the smallest listening room, … Despite its diminutive physical stature, the Supernova can put out enough bass energy to fill even a large room with sonic rumblings.”

“This unit is aimed at producing maximum SPL from a small but not diminutive enclosure in the 30-50Hz range. The Supernova…delivered 113dB at 40Hz, 113dB at 35Hz, and 113dB at 30Hz. This is the new record for high output level for all subwoofers reviewed so far.”

“I've never had a sub that integrates so well with the rest of my system. Used correctly, the Supernova can blend beautifully, remaining soniclly invisible until it's really needed. It's impressive to have dinosaur steps whomp you in the chest and set your bi-fold closet doors quivering with each stride, …”

“...it was difficult to drive to audible distress. It produced a strong, clear output of 106dB at 25Hz and could reach 98dB at 20Hz and below…. The output of 113dB at 35Hz is incredibly high, and the highest level attained by any subwoofer in the review.”

“The Supernova's dynamic agility is especially impressive on both movie soundtracks and music. On both movie soundtracks and music, there is never any sense of dynamic limitation or strain. No matter how loud the pyrotechnics… or how complex the bass lines… the Supernova is up to the challenge of producing clean, accurate low bass.”

“Caution: the Supernova can play so loud that if you hear distress in use you need to turn your system down or you will soon irrevocably damage your hearing and then everything will become inaudible.”
