The council made the laws and the Assembly approved the laws. Every day a Council of 500 was chosen by lot (luck of the draw). They conducted the business of the day.

6. Describe Athens’ economy.  Athens was a port city. It was on the water and this made it easy to travel and trade with others. 7. Describe Darius and his rule of Persia.  

Darius had a strong army but his main goal was to keep his empire strong. Darius, like many other rulers, always tried to maintain and keep his kingdom.
