Wild week of action in Amsterdam rec hoops league Devin Valles led three players in double figures with 20 points as St. Mary’s Healthcare topped the Sons of Amsterdam, 57-51, in recent Amsterdam Recreation Basketball League 7-8th grade boys division play at the Bacon Rec Center. Andrew Giaimo added 13 points and Peyton Ausfeld chipped in 10 for St. Mary’s, which also got six points from Christian Mickus, three apiece from Tremaign Lovelace and Logan Steen and two from Spencer Flint. Jake Greco scored 12 points and Corey Motyl scored 10 for Sons of Amsterdam. Matthew Murphy chipped in nine points to go along with six points each for Nick Agresta and Jeffrey Brennan, four from Michael Rocas and two each from Angel Merced and Frank Staley. Grades 5-6 Clear Image 45, Hype DJs 34 Yandeel Vazquez scored 13 points and Tyrell Douglas added 12 as Clear Image improved to 6-0 on the season. Clear Image also got nine points from Ryan Hotaling, six from Rafferty Clark and five from Brady Naish along with strong defensive performances by Derek Carella and Joshua Alicea. Dennis Collazzo starred for Hype DJs with a game-high 26 points. Jaden Lao and Jason Gonzalez chipped in four points apiece, while Michael Lajeunesse, Xavier Acevedo, Jason Kaminsky and P.J. Hamblin played solid defense.

Grades 3-4 CWA 1118 Red Storm 49, Post-Time/Pizarro 21 Marco Bottisti powered his way to a game-high 20 points as the Red Storm charged to a win. Victor Dueno added 12 points for the Red Storm, while Vincent Bottisti scored five, Louie Gonzalez and Leo Perez each scored four and Gio Gonzalez and Darius Gainer each scored two. Carson Shaffer led the way with 15 points and Kai Brennan scored six for Post-Time/Pizarro. Blake Post, Lorenzo Pizarro, Franco Pizarro and Jordan Schmidtman led the team’s defense with Anthony Pacillo providing solid rebounding. 518 Flag 39, 518 Grille 36 Ceasar Thompson’s game-high 21 points helped 518 Flag improve to 5-1 on the season. Jhai Vellon contributed eight points for 518 Flag, while Marc Schultz scored four and the trio of Elias Castro, Cody Hamm and Dante Soto chipped in two points apiece. Defensive standouts were Thompson, Schultz, Vellon and Ryan Reagan. Ryan Savoie’s 14 points led the charge for 518 Grille. Brodie McNeil contributed eight points, while Sammy Hotaling and Thomas Platt scored six apiece and Dominic Blair added two. Hotaling, Savoie and McNeil paced the team’s defensive effort.

Grade 2 MCT Federal Credit Union 33, Cassella and Co. 24 Jude Flint fired away with 27 points to fuel MCT’s victory over Cassella and Co. In addition to Flint’s big game, MCT got four points from Elias Saunders and two from Julien Goris. Ivan Valles led the way for Cassella and Co. with 16 points. Daniel Giaimo, Joshua Motyka, Carlos Reyes and Ross Sanders rounded out the scoring with two points each. GIRLS Grades 2-4 Cappies 12, Post-Time/Pizarro 7 Keegan Hoefs and Helen Flint each scored four points to push Cappies to victory. Natalie Agresta added two points for Cappies, while Ailani Rivera and Kayla Douglas contributed a point each. With two players absent and Brooke Post leaving the game with a fever after 10 minutes, Post-Time/Pizarro played with four players on the floor for the bulk of the game. Kiara Reid led the way with five points and seven rebounds, Sophia DeRosa had two points and two assists and both Nataie McNeil and Brianna Kelly contributed solid all-around play. — Staff report
